Bhubaneswar: The draft on heritage bye-laws issued by National Monuments Authority (NMA) should not be put on hold but withdrawn said Odisha Law Minister Pratap Jena on Friday.
His reaction came after Union Culture Minister Prahlad Singh Patel in a letter to Union Minister Pratap Sarangi informed that the draft on heritage bye-laws has been put on hold.
Patel in his letter to Sarangi had mentioned that he had directed the concerned officers to keep the draft proposal on hold. The final decision will be taken after a discussion with stakeholders.
However, Jena said, “The bye-laws had created a barrier for carrying out development work in and around the temples. We demand that it should not be put on hold but it needs to be withdrawn.”
Odisha Government has taken various steps for the development of Puri Srimandir and Lingaraj Temple. The bye-laws should not create a barrier for it, he added.
